The English Garden The English Garden is the "heart" of the garden, no pun intended. Everything radiates off the heart-shaped lawn. The heart symbolizes my love for my wife, my Creator and of gardening. The English Garden is a combination of a formal garden and an English cottage garden. The beds are laid out formally to provide structure (and lower maintenance) but are planted in the cottage style with a profusion of colors, shapes and textures all jumbled together to create a feast for the eyes. The heart shape lawn is central to the plan and very important to give the eye a nice "rest" and backdrop for the explosion of colors surrounding it. The back of the heart is a raised stone bed which is designed to give a comfortable place to sit as well as a potential place for gardening when decades from now I might not be able to bend over so well.
