The Butterfly Garden Who doesn't love butterflies? I probably don't need a specific "butterfly garden" as butterflies are attracted to almost all the flowers in the rest of the garden. But here I do concentrate on plants I know are favorites of our butterfly friends. You will find butterfly bushes (Buddleia davidii), bee balm (monarda), various salvias, and milkweed, which is the only plant that the Monarch butterfly will lay its eggs on. This Spring I was delighted to discover that there were hundreds of caterpillars that hatched in our cherry trees. I'm hoping a significant amount of them will make it to the adult stage.
